Homemade Turkey Soup

6 lb turkey breast with bones (with at least 2 C meat)
2 medium onions
3 stalks celery
1 tsp dried thyme
1/2 tsp dried rosemary
1/2 tsp dried sage
1 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp dried marjoram
1/2 tsp dried tarragon
1/2 tsp salt to taste black pepper
1/2 lb Italian pastina or pasta

Homemade Maple Flavored Syrup

2 cups white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon maple extract

In a saucepan, combine the white sugar, brown sugar, and water. Bring to a boil, and cook for
about 3 minutes. Stir in the maple, and vanilla extract and remove from heat.
Let cool, and serve at room temperature. Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator. Be aware
that it may crystallize if the container is not airtight. Makes 3 cups.

Homemade Biscuits

2 cups sifted self-rising flour
1/4 cup Crisco® shortening
2/3 to 3/4 cup milk, sour milk, or buttermilk

Preheat oven at 400° degrees F. Place flour in mixing bowl. With pastry blender or fork, cut in
shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs or corn meal. Blend in just enough milk with
fork until dough leaves sides of bowl. Turn dough onto lightly floured surface. Knead gently 10 to
12 strokes. Roll out dough 1/2 inch thick with rolling pin. Cut with 2 inch biscuit cutter, dipping
cutter into flour between cuts. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Makes 12 biscuits.
